The RFID module has come to an end.
From this module, i learnt stuffs about the ezlink card system and all.
It's really amazing as i get to know more things about our daily life.
Really thanks to Mr Cheng and my fellow classmates for the wonderful time spent for this module.
The project is a success for us, i did the programming with a little bit of Audrey's help!
The outcome is good.

We presented our project proposal to Mr Cheng.
It's about attendance system..
We chose this project was because it's actually more practical to do it.
We have compared the advantages and disadvantages of it.
Eg, if we are using the attendance system, it will be more practical as well as create convenience for the users.
The old method by using papers are not practical and sometimes, it might cause trouble when we need to find out about the attendance taken in the past.

However, we will improve by trying out the actual program and screenshot to present in our next presentation!

For week 7, we did our practical on using real time location system technology with wireless network with the help of the tso Johnny.

From what i know, there are many types of tracking technologies in use today. But for the lab, we are going to use the Ekahau's WIFI based RTLS. This technology uses software-based algorithms to compute location of tracked objects, eliminating the need for exciters, choke points, receivers and other proprietary hardware infrastructure. It can easily scale to support tens of thousands of tags on a single server. With wifi, it's easier and convenient to implement RTLS.

We were given the laptop and the tag.. The group need to plan a route and walk around. When there's a turn, we need to click the point on the lappy. After everything, we went back to the room and sort of trace the route..

It's elearning week this week which we don't have to attend school.
Mr Cheng wants us to read about how RFID-Enabled Lift-Truck Solution Eliminates Operator Scanning.

Quoted from the web: When a lift-truck operator moves something, they typically have to do at least three manual points of data entry, either by bar code scan or keyboard. Rush Tracking Systems claims that an RFID enabled lift-truck can perform the same move operation without any human intervention.

I've watched the videos and yeah, it's amazing.

For week 5, we were being taught of using RFID technology in access control.
Miss PohYen was there to guide us through the practical.
First of all, she explained the system to us like pressing which buttons etc.
It works like a lift!
Then we were given some codings to type to make the program work.



We were also given the Sony Felica Driver to scan the 'ezlink card'.



It's so amazing how it can read the card's ID!
Now i know how a lift actually works :)

Lastly, i tried to google and found this...



Wow it works like wonders!

For week 4, we went to the AeroScount Centre to attend our lesson by Mr Peter.
The lesson is about using RFID technology to track outdoor assets.
One of the example of such tracking system will be in the automotive manufacturing industry.



We were given shown of some items..





Initially we are supposed to do an experiment on it, but the weather doesn't help thus it's cancelled.
Hope there will be a chance next time!

For week 3, we had a practical lesson assisted by Miss Li Yan.
We are being taught on the passives tags, HF and UHF...
As our group was the first group, thus we started off doing the practical first.

We are given some HF tags and we need to hold it high and lower it down to measure the exact distance when the tag was being detected.
We also tried to stick a tag onto a metal, which cannot be detected.

Next, we tried to scan the barcodes and took down the timing to scan the 6 items.



One of them was stick onto a metal, thus the UHF can't be detected.

Overall, it was a good experience because i can do the experiment hands on!
